Linear accelerator: High precision thermal regulation system

IRS, National Instruments Certified Alliance Partner, delivered a thermal regulation system allowing 70 RF components of a linear accelerator to be in a temperature range of +/- 0.02°C.

The system hardware includes

• 15 NI CompactRIO systems enabling the data acquisition and management of about 800 I/O and the indipendent temperature control of 70 RF components
• 150 "tailor made" high precision RTD and about 650 devices such as flow meters, flow switches, temperature switches, pressure switches and alarms
• Supervisory PCs running Windows or Linux OS

The software application includes

• Linear accelerator RF component models to define temperature control algorithm
• Temperature set point management and control of each of the 70 RF components, as well as management and storage of the acquired data from the 800 managed signal
• Remote control of the hardware system and data communication over customer defined communication protocol
